EXPLORING ART THROUGH WHIMSY
How serious should an artist be when creating art? How serious should works of art be? What is whimsy? Explore these questions when you create various works of art in the studio and outdoors. Create a sculpture in the style of Barbara Kobylinska and Gustavo Remirez Cruz. Paint a plein air painting in one day. Explore the creativity of glitch art and add glitch to your painting. Experiment with watercolor techniques, creating quirky creatures. At the end of this art-filled week, you will be able to enhance your creativity and your experience with a wide range of art media.

Mary Ann Fardelmann has over 20 years of teaching experience. She recently retired from teaching Art at Stephen Decatur High School where she taught for the past 12 years. At Decatur, she specialized in Utilitarian Arts (such as weaving, basketry, bookmaking, altered book sculpture, sumi-e painting, clay, calligraphy), as well as Art I (foundation skills, experimentation with the elements of art with a wide range of media), and Art II (clay, painting with watercolor and acrylics, sculpture skills, and experimentation with the principles of design).
Mary Ann not only brings much experience and talent but also a passion for teaching. It is clear that art is fun for her and she enjoys sharing that fun with others!
