For more than 180 years, St. Philip's Episcopal Church has worshiped and served in the small Eastern Shore community of Quantico, Maryland. Today, we are a small, active congregation with a strong sense of family. We know one another. We care for one another. We worship, work, laugh and occasionally disagree together, and when someone needs us, we show up.
We believe that intimacy is one of the particular gifts of a small church.
As we seek our next Priest-in-Charge, we are not simply looking for someone to fill a position. We are looking for a priest willing to enter into the life of this community, help us deepen our faith, and discern with us where God is calling St. Philip’s next.

who we are
During our recent discernment, we gathered material from several years of parish reflection, previous search work, individual responses and congregational conversations.
What surprised us was not how much we disagreed.
It was how consistently we described the same church.
Again and again, our members described St. Philip’s as a place of:
Faith • Relationship • Pastoral Care • Service • Tradition • Belonging
We are a congregation where coffee hour can sometimes feel almost as important as what happens before it. That is not because worship matters less. It is because relationships matter enormously here.
We cherish our Episcopal identity and the traditions handed down to us, but we do not believe faithfulness requires standing still.
Our history matters to us. So does our future.

Rooted in faith and tradition, St. Philip’s welcomes all to grow in Christ, care for one another, and share God’s love through service to our community.
We believe God’s presence is at the center of everything we are and everything we hope to become.
We encounter God in worship and Holy Eucharist, but also in a hospital room, around a fellowship table, through music, beside a grieving family, while serving a neighbor, and in the simple act of welcoming someone through our doors.
Our discernment has led us toward several priorities for our next chapter:
Deepening our spiritual life • Strengthening our community presence • Welcoming new members and younger generations • Developing music as worship and outreach • Strengthening our Christian foundation • Growing shared ministry
We are interested in growth, but not simply numerical growth. We seek growth in faith, service, relationships, participation and spiritual depth as well.
